Baba, an Aghori sadhu in the Kathmandu Valley, who performs the Pran Pratishtha ritual for Rudraksha
Pran Pratishtha · प्राण प्रतिष्ठा

The energization of your Rudraksha, by a practicing Aghori in Nepal.

In the Vedic tradition, a Rudraksha is sacred from the moment it is born on the tree — but before being worn, many practitioners ask for it to be energized: invited into life through mantra, fire, and the breath of one who has walked the path for decades. The ritual is called Pran Pratishtha — the installation of life-breath.

Every Rudraksha and Siddha Mala we ship can optionally be energized by Baba, an aghori sadhu · kathmandu valley who has been our partner for this work. 30+ years of practice. Photo and short video of your specific bead during the ritual sent to you before shipping.

§ I · The yogi

Who performs the ritual.

Baba has practiced the aghori sadhu · kathmandu valley path for 30+ years. He lives at his ashram in kathmandu valley and performs Pran Pratishtha for Rudraksha sent to him from Kathmandu Rudraksha.

The Aghori path is one of the older traditions in Hindu spiritual practice — a path that holds that the sacred can be invoked in any form, anywhere, by one who has surrendered fully. Baba does not seek fame or scale. He performs the ritual for our customers because he believes a Rudraksha that travels far should travel with intention.

Pran Pratishtha is presented as a traditional spiritual ritual reflecting Vedic and Aghori practice. We do not make medical or material guarantees about its effect.

§ IV · When to add it

Is Pran Pratishtha for you?

Most people choose it for:

  • • Rare Mukhi (1, 9, 12, 14, 17+)
  • • Any Siddha Mala
  • • A bead intended as a gift
  • • A bead worn as primary mala for daily sadhana

You may skip if:

  • • You have your own guru who will energize it
  • • You plan a temple consecration locally
  • • You see the bead as a meaningful natural object rather than a vessel for ritual

Our honest view

An un-energized Rudraksha is still sacred — born of a tree, in the Himalayan belt, by the will of nature. Pran Pratishtha is a deepening, not a requirement. Add it when it feels meaningful, not because someone said you must.

§ V · Common questions

What people ask before booking.

How is this different from a temple priest blessing?+
A temple priest performs a quick blessing during regular puja, often for many devotees at once. Pran Pratishtha is a dedicated 40-minute to 2-hour ritual performed on your specific bead alone, by a sadhu who has practiced for decades. Both are valid; Pran Pratishtha is deeper and more individual.
What does Pran Pratishtha cost?+
We do not display a fixed price online because the ritual varies in length and depth depending on the bead, the mantras requested, and whether the ritual is performed in the yogi's ashram or at Pashupatinath. Message us on WhatsApp with the bead you have in mind and we will quote the cost transparently. Most rituals are a small fraction of the bead itself.
Can the ritual happen at Pashupatinath instead?+
Yes, on request. Pashupatinath Pran Pratishtha is performed under the temple priest tradition rather than the Aghori tradition. Please ask on WhatsApp before booking so we route it correctly.
How long before shipping will I see the proof photos?+
Usually 2–3 days from the day the ritual is scheduled. The yogi performs the ritual, we receive the photos and short video, send them to you on WhatsApp, you approve, and we ship within 24 hours.
Can I be present remotely (video call)?+
For Siddha Mala orders, yes — we can arrange a brief video call with the yogi during the ritual on request. For single beads it is not generally offered.
Can I request a specific mantra to be chanted?+
Yes — let us know your tradition or specific intention on WhatsApp. The yogi will adapt the mantra selection accordingly (within his tradition).
