What the 1 Mukhi means in tradition
Lord Shiva himself
The one-faced Rudraksha is the crown of the entire tradition. The Shiva Purana names it first and highest: the bead of Shiva himself, of pure undivided consciousness. A true round Nepali Ek Mukhi is so rare that most that circulate are counterfeit — which is why this bead, above all others, must never be bought without verification.
Tradition associates it with the Sun and with the dissolution of the ego's claims — the wearer is turned, the texts say, toward moksha, toward the one behind the many. It is regarded less as an ornament than as a lifetime companion for renunciate-hearted practice, often kept in worship rather than worn daily.
